Zomato's “Tiffin” Feature

I created a concept feature called "Tiffin" in the Zomato app. In which users can subscribe to the tiffin services for particular days they want. They can also choose the delivery time.

This was my personal project to showcase my designing and prototyping skills.

Problem Statement

Corporate employees often struggle with daily meal arrangements due to hectic schedules, leading to issues with consistency, quality, and convenience. Traditional tiffin services face limitations such as inconsistent availability, varying hygiene standards, limited meal customization, and time-consuming coordination. These challenges make it difficult for busy professionals to access reliable and hygienic meals that suit their preferences.

The "Tiffin" feature aims to solve these issues by providing a streamlined and customizable meal subscription service within the Zomato app.

Goals

The goal of the "Tiffin" feature is to provide a convenient and reliable meal subscription service within the Zomato app, catering specifically to the needs of corporate employees who depend on daily tiffin services.

Tap into an Untapped Market

With thousands of professionals relying on tiffins for lunch, there is significant potential to offer a dedicated platform for meal subscriptions.

Leverage Zomato's Existing User Base

Instead of creating a separate app, integrating this feature within Zomato allows us to capitalize on its high traffic and established user trust, boosting the feature’s visibility and adoption.

Create a Profitable and Trusted Service

By ensuring quality, hygiene, and convenience, the "Tiffin" feature can become a profitable addition to Zomato’s offerings, building a reputation as a dependable platform for meal deliveries.

Design Process

Understanding of Existing Design

Firstly I started observing the Zomato app’s designs. To understand in depth and observe minute details, I made 1-2 screens by laying out the exact same designs.

Design System

The design system was provided in one of their blogs. I made this system available for my project.

And for that, I used local variables in Figma.

Information Architecture

This is a really crucial part of the design process for me. As it guides me to stick to the design plans.

Wireframes

I started gathering ideas of how the new feature would look, and after 2-3 tries, I ended up with these wireframes.

Designing Screens

I started making high-fidelity screens with the help of defined design systems and wireframes. This was the longest part of the process so far.

In making these screens, I changed some of the decisions I made before making the screens.

Prototype

I started making prototypes right after I completed the screens. In prototyping, I used advanced prototyping provided by Figma.

Results

This project was really short. But it was really intense and fun as well. I got to understand the designs of Zomato(Sushi) and made a super cool feature that might catch the attention of Zomato’s design team. I learned so much by doing this project.
